Mantras and Affirmations

“All the mantras and affirmations in the world without action will lead to nothing but good thoughts.”

a statement or slogan repeated frequently

Affirmation- afər’maSH(ə)n [Noun]
1> The assertion or declaration that something is true emotional support or encouragement.

Mantras, daily affirmations, incantations, whatever you want to call them. What good are they? You’ve tried them again and again but …? OK, here is the straight deal about this topic. They do work, however only if you act on them. You can praise yourself forever on things you never did and build your self-esteem to the sky but if you are on an eating program but never actually eat the food your supposed to and keep eating the way you always have, your results will be questionable at best.

Affirmations are not the crash diet of success.  Success requires hard work, innovation, and creation.  That’s a simple fact. If all you needed to do were build a website or a brick and mortar store and wait for people just to show up, everyone would do it, and chain stores wouldn’t exist.  A store doesn’t sell anything unless they advertise to people they have the product.

People won’t just show up to your store, and success won’t just show up for you.  There is no “fast food” solution to getting the wealth and abundance that everyone wants.  If you’re not willing to put in the work, then obviously your not my client and I don’t need more people who are just going to complain this stuff doesn’t work.  So if that’s you please stop reading and go back to your social networking and trying to convince yourself you’re a good person. It’s a lovely life.

If you’re still reading then you understand that life doesn’t just happen to you, it’s happening for you. There is a wealth of abundance to be had by all. You may have noticed there are millionaires everywhere.  There is room for many more. I’ve studied how this works, and I’m willing to share it with you.  What have they done differently?  Well, one thing is that they program their personal success mindset.

Now, we have established that there are new millionaires made daily. Approx every 20 seconds according to  CNBC. But, are they made? I say not. They work for it by providing value to people who need a product or service and monetize it. But, while all that’s happening, how do they stay self-motivated.  Is it mind magic. Some say yes it is.  They often tell themselves what they want to believe and by reprogramming the core of how they think will drive them to success.

So how do you use these mantras and affirmations? Why they work is not very relevant for this article, but how to use them that’s a different story.  What I tell my clients to do is write a list of the characteristics they wish to possess on their mirror with bullet points.  I like green or purple glass paint.  Buy it here.

Next step is to write your goals onto sticky notes. I would say 1 Major Goal (5-year) 2 Minor Goals (1 month), and two get it done quick goals.  Make multiple copies and put the stick notes wherever you sit. One or two per location. I like to put them on the dash of my car next to the speedometer, I don’t even read it, but I subconsciously know its there every time I check my speed. I have seen a woman put them in there purse, so they notice it every time they open it. It brings the though toward the goal to the forefront of your mind and retargets your brain to seek opportunities to complete the goal today or the near future. Much like when you’re hungry you think about eating.

Now for the fun part. The big 5-year goal and maybe one of the other goals three times a day, once during the golden hour, once just before bed, and once during the day.  Think about the goal for about 15-30 minutes. Imagine how it feels to experience the goal. For example, if you want a new car, imagine what it’s like to be driving the car, what’s on the radio, how does it make you feel to be driving the car.  I’m more of a motorcycle guy myself, but I know you can get the idea. Vacations, a new home, a spouse, whatever it may be that is your goals.

Note: as you do this exercise, always focus on the experience while you do it. Not money, because money is only a resource, it means nothing but opportunity and the abundant ability to reach your goal. If you focus on money, it usually backfires because of the negative (greed and fear of loss) intentions that go along with the goal of getting rich.  So instead of getting more, you wind up getting less.  Focus on the experience and the money will come to allow you to have the experience.
